Shrek the Halls ABC 08:30 PM ET What's not to love about a Christmas special starring a family of green ogres? Shrek (voice of Mike Myers) isn't a Christmas kind of guy, but Fiona (voice of Cameron Diaz) loves the holiday, so he goes along -- with a little help from Donkey (voice of Eddie Murphy) and the rest of the fairy-tale gang. If this special doesn't join Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch in the pantheon of holiday classics, something's wrong with the world. NFL Football ESPN 08:30 PM ET A clash of potential Super Bowl teams is on tap tonight in the Louisiana Superdome, where Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints will try to keep their unbeaten record intact against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, the last team to run the regular-season table. The Family Stone FXEAST 09:00 PM ET In this entertaining 2005 comedy that manages the delicate trick of being traditional and offbeat at the same time, Sarah Jessica Parker plays the outsider at the title clan's holiday gathering. Her uptight character steadily withers under the scrutiny of her beau's (Dermot Mulroney) relatives, particularly his mother and sister (Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams). Other family members are played by Luke Wilson and Craig T. Nelson.

Eva Green plays Vesper Lynd, the agent who steals Bond's heart. The Matrix AMC 08:00 PM ET A computer programmer and hacker (Keanu Reeves) discovers that his entire reality is virtual in this 1999 sci-fi tale. Hercules ABCF 08:00 PM ET Tate Donovan voices the title role in Disney's animated adaptation of the Greek myth. A god by birth, the awkward adolescent Hercules must become an earthly hero to reclaim his divine powers. He's helped by an impish satyr (voice of Danny DeVito) and hindered by Hades, ruler of the underworld (voice of James Woods). The film has some fun with Disney's rampant commercialism, painting Herc as a media star complete with product endorsements. The Day the Earth Stood Still HBOE 08:00 PM ET You may feel as if time is standing still while suffering through this stultifying 2008 remake, released almost 60 years after the original release of Robert Wise's classic sci-fi original. Once again alien Klaatu (now played by Keanu Reeves) and his fearsome robot, Gort, come to Earth to offer a warning to the entire human race, and the opposition they encounter sets off a chilling(-ish) series of events. Jennifer Connelly plays a scientist assisting the government in the matter, with Jaden Smith (Will's son) as her stepson.
Appaloosa MAX 08:00 PM ET Ed Harris earned praise for following his "Pollock" directorial debut by calling the shots on this reasonably traditional Western, sort of a "Magnificent Seven" minus five. The adaptation of a Robert B. Parker novel casts Harris and Viggo Mortensen as the possible saviors of a New Mexico town, with Jeremy Irons as a corrupt businessman who holds the place and its population in his grip. Renee Zellweger also stars. The Biggest Loser NBC 08:00 PM ET Suze Orman talks to the five remaining contestants about the connection between health and wealth and gives them tips on becoming fiscally fit. Explorer NGC 10:00 PM ET What happens after a 6-mile-wide asteroid slams into the Earth? Scientists believe it happened 66 million years ago, and in a high-tech NASA lab, experts use new technology to re-create the force of the blast and show what probably happened in the hours that followed. Computer graphics and real-world demonstrations show what organisms survived the meteor strike that wiped out the dinosaurs and why they made it in "24 Hours After Asteroid Impact." Secret Lives of Women WE 10:00 PM ET The new episode "War on Polygamy" examines the "machinery" of this controversial family structure, exploring how women and children are subjugated by corruption and political influence within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as recounted by women who have fled the church, as well as government and law enforcement officials.
Hitman MAX 10:00 PM ET As generic as its title, this 2007 big-screen adaptation of a video game has lots of action of the loud and bloody variety. Unfortunately, the plot constructed around it is uninspired and at times confusing. Timothy Olyphant ("Deadwood") plays the title character, a professional assassin caught in the middle of a conspiracy involving the president of Russia, his sex slave, and his drug- and gun-dealing brother. Did we mention everyone wants him dead? The game itself is way more entertaining. The Singing Nun TCM 06:00 PM ET Debbie Reynolds is all sweetness and light -- just as she should be -- in this charming 1966 portrait of Sister Ann, a Belgian nun who earns international fame for her musical talent (and her chart hit "Dominique"). She even lands on "The Ed Sullivan Show," with Mr. "Really Big Shoo" playing himself here. Greer Garson, Ricardo Montalban, Agnes Moorehead, Chad Everett and a pre-"The Graduate" Katharine Ross co-star.
The Invasion MAX 06:15 PM ET Nicole Kidman got "spacey" for her role in this 2007 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," but the unsatisfying results suggest Hollywood went back to this well one time too many. Kidman stars as a psychiatrist who discovers the (literally) alien origins of a disease that has been causing mass behavior changes in the human population. And it seems that the only person with an immunity is her son (Jackson Bond). Ask us if you'll care. Daniel Craig, Jeremy Northam and Jeffrey Wright co-star. The New Adventures of Old Christine CBS 08:00 PM ET "Meanie mom" Lindsay (Alex Kapp Horner) decides to leave her husband after Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) convinces her that being single leads to happiness, but Christine is less than ecstatic when Lindsay moves in with her in the new episode "I Love Woo, I Hate Who." Clark Gregg, Hamish Linklater, Emily Rutherfurd and Tricia O'Kelley also star.
The Biggest Loser NBC 08:00 PM ET More than 40 former contestants from the show's first seven seasons reveal how they look now and what they've been doing since they left the series. Some of them reveal their struggle to maintain their weight loss, while others discuss the major milestones they have accomplished. Trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels also are featured in the new episode "Where Are They Now?" Secrets of the Dead PBS 08:00 PM ET The episode "Mumbai Massacre" revisits those chilling 60 hours starting on Nov. 26, 2008, when a wave of orchestrated terrorism was transmitted live around the world via cell phones, the Internet, texting and social networks such as Twitter. Ironically, as this program explores, that same technology enabled the terrorists to conduct a deadly cat-and-mouse game with their victims.
Message in a Bottle LIFE 09:00 PM ET It's got Paul Newman. But this 1999 tear-jerker also has a formulaic and frequently unrealistic plotline that keeps it from rising above mediocrity. Robin Wright Penn stars as a newspaper researcher who tracks down the source of a mysterious love letter -- a widowed boat builder (Kevin Costner) who falls for her awfully fast for a guy allegedly still mourning his wife. Oh, and did we mention his letter got printed in the paper, and he's not going to be happy about that? Criminal Minds CBS 09:00 PM ET The hit procedural drama marks its 100th episode with a taut hour that finds Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and the BAU team racing to help Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) find the Reaper (guest star C. Thomas Howell) and save his family. D.B. Sweeney, Jayne Atkinson, Meredith Monroe, Josh Stewart and Nicholas Brendon also guest star in the new episode "100."
Shadow Soldiers NGC 09:00 PM ET In Kazakhstan, former British Special Forces agent Chris Ryan trains with the Sunkar, an elite SWAT team of 120 men equipped with military-style weaponry, As a rule, the force specializes in neutralizing threats from terrorists and other foreign extremists, but in this new episode, Ryan helps track and arrest members of a heroin-smuggling ring. CSI: NY CBS 10:00 PM ET After uncovering the murderer's dark lair, Mac (Gary Sinise) and the CSI team race to save the fourth victim of Hollis Eckhart (guest star Skeet Ulrich), the Compass Killer, but the sunrise presents a final surprise in the new episode "Manhattanhenge," the culmination of a multiepisode story arc. Melina Kanakaredes, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper and Eddie Cahill also star; Josie Davis also guest stars.
Fool's Gold MAX 06:05 PM ET Reteamed from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have lesser effect together in this comedy-adventure as spouses bordering on divorce. The background settings are more attractive than they are, as the characters end up involved in a treasure hunt at sea, using the yacht on which the wife works as their base. Donald Sutherland plays the boat's owner, and Ray Winstone ("Beowulf") and Alexis Dziena also are in the cast. The Office NBC 08:00 PM ET The office mates travel to Niagara Falls to celebrate Jim and Pam's (John Krasinki, Jenna Fischer) wedding, but things quickly spiral out of control, especially after Jim makes an unfortunate gaffe during a toast. Meanwhile, Michael, Dwight and Andy (Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Ed Helms) try to hook up with other wedding guests in "Niagara."
Home Alone FXEAST 08:00 PM ET Macaulay Culkin stars as a youngster who is mistakenly left home alone when his family leaves for Paris at Christmastime. When two burglars break in, the boy foils their attempts to rob the house by constructing elaborate traps. This 1990 comedy also stars Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, Roberts Blossom, Catherine O'Hara and John Candy. The Godfather AMC 08:00 PM ET Well, Thanksgiving is a "family" holiday, and Francis Ford Coppola's masterful adaptation of Mario Puzo's mobster epic is an unforgettable film that invents a world of its own, with heroes, villains and a moral system unlike any other. Marlon Brando delivers an Academy Award-winning performance as title character Don Vito Corleone. Al Pacino is riveting as Vito's passionate, conflicted son. Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall and James Caan co-star in the 1972 drama.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving ABC 08:00 PM ET In this 1973 animated special, the pressure is on for Charlie Brown after pushy Peppermint Patty decides she and the gang will have Thanksgiving dinner at "Chuck's" house, First, though, he has to submit to a mortifying ritual of fall: Lucy yanking the football away just as he tries to kick it. Still, everything ends happily as the gang gathers around a pingpong table for an unusual feast prepared by Snoopy and Woodstock. College Football ESPN 08:00 PM ET Those who didn't get enough pigskin with their turkey this afternoon can sample football of the college stripe this evening in the form of a longstanding rivalry when Texas A&M hosts Texas. The No. 2 Texas Longhorns are led by quarterback Colt McCoy, whose 144 rating and 72 percent completion rate at this writing place him in the thick of the Heisman conversation. The unranked Aggies have a pretty decent signal caller of their own in junior Jerrod Johnson.
The Vampire Diaries CW 08:00 PM ET Tyler (Michael Trevino) tries to embarrass Stefan (Paul Wesley) but the attempt backfires, only revealing the latter's stunning football skills. Elena (Nina Dobrev) invites Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Stefan to dinner, hoping they will become friends, but Damon and Caroline (Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola) interrupt the evening. An act of violence shocks the town in "Friday Night Bites." The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS CBS 09:00 AM ET Maggie Rodriguez and Dave Price from "The Early Show" host coverage of the 83rd annual holiday parade, which features a performance by country music superstar Reba McEntire as well as numbers by the casts of "West Side Story," "Ragtime" and"Dreamgirls." Jamie Kennedy ("Ghost Whisperer") provides "man on the street" reports as he interacts with the spectators.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation CBS 09:00 PM ET Grissom's replacements always get a baptism of fire. Just ask Michael Keppler, who took over for him when he went on sabbatical a while back. Now his permanent replacement, Dr. Raymond Langston (Laurence Fishburne), faces a crazy case on his first day as a CSI. It starts out as a simple burglary, but the team soon discovers a connection to a complex arson and homicide. Marg Helgenberger also stars in "The Grave Shift." You, Me and Dupree TBS 09:00 PM ET It certainly wasn't the worst movie of 2006, but this fluffy comedy about a newlywed couple sharing their home with the best man fails to live up to its potential. Blame the been-there-done-that "three's a crowd" plot premise and the been-there-seen-that performance of Owen Wilson as the third wheel, playing the same warmed-over surfer-dude wannabe he's trotted out in so many other roles. He and co-stars Matt Dillon, Kate Hudson and Michael Douglas could have made magic here -- but no.
College Football CBS 02:30 PM ET It's called the Iron Bowl, but it has nothing to do with Pittsburgh or the Panthers. It's the annual clash between regional rivals Alabama and Auburn that used to take place in Birmingham, Ala., a city with a history in the steel industry. It dates back to 1893, when the Tigers defeated 'Bama before a crowd of about 2,000. The event has grown since then to one of the most vaunted rivalries in sports. Alabama leads the all-time series 39-33-1. Jumper HBOE 06:30 PM ET Several critics told director Doug Liman to take a flying leap after screening his migraine-inducing 2008 fantasy about a young man (Hayden Christensen, the guy who played Darth Vader as if he were in "Gossip Girl") who can teleport. Granted, "Jumper" is fast-moving, in a manic-squirrel-hopped-up-on-caffeine kind of way, but the speed is probably intended to make you overlook some gaping plot holes. Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Bilson and Diane Lane co-star.
The 40 NBC 08:00 PM ET Steve Carell ("The Office") scored a sleeper hit as the co-writer -- with director Judd Apatow -- and star of this 2005 comedy about a man whose experience with physical intimacy has been limited, to put it mildly. His co-workers and pals try to help him catch up, but he has ideas of his own, especially when he meets an appealing single mother (Catherine Keener). Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd co-star. Smallville CW 08:00 PM ET Clark (Tom Welling) wants to start training with Jor-El but is stunned when the latter sends him back to Metropolis to sever ties with Lois (Erica Durance) first. After startling Chloe (Allison Mack) with her sudden reappearance, Lois meets John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green), a new reporter at The Daily Planet. Chloe makes a request that drives a wedge between her and Clark in "Savior."
Platinum Babies WE 09:00 PM ET After frustrating years of trying, well-heeled couple Jena and Peter are ecstatic to welcome their new twins, a double blessing that gives them an excuse to have twice the showers and fill their extravagantly appointed nursery with $40,000 in high-end, custom-made touches. NUMB3RS CBS 10:00 PM ET "Now, ladies and gentlemen, if you'll just look to the left, next to Pauly Shore's bungalow, you'll see your own violent deaths... ." Don (Rob Morrow) and his team have only four hours to stop hijackers who have taken a bus full of Hollywood tourists hostage in "Jacked." David Krumholtz, Judd Hirsch and Peter MacNicol also star.
Hoover Dam Reinvented NGC 10:00 PM ET When it was built in the 1930s, Hoover Dam stood as a symbol of revival for Depression-weary America, but would it be done the same way if it were constructed today? Engineers use the latest techniques to redesign the dam in terms of how it probably would be done today. Secret Santa LIFE 07:00 PM ET Christmas movies and cliches go together like gingerbread and eggnog, but there's such a thing as overkill. Case in point: this dreadful 2003 drama starring Jennie Garth as a cynical reporter who tries to uncover the identity of a small town's anonymous philanthropist. If Garth gives many more performances this shrill and unappealing, she'll be the one flirting with anonymity, and the strenuously cheerful denizens of this hokey hamlet are right out of Stepford. Not recommended as entertainment, but if, heaven forbid, a loved one ingests a toxic substance during the holidays, this TV movie will bring it back up faster than Ipecac.
The Wrestler HBOE 08:00 PM ET A top movie-comeback story of recent times has been Mickey Rourke, who had a terrific ride on the film-award circuit as the title character of director and co-writer Darren Aronofsky's drama. Mirroring many of the actor's own experiences, Rourke's roughed-up alter ego wants a new lease on his personal and professional lives. His path to redemption involves his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) and a stripper (Marisa Tomei). Merry Madagascar NBC 08:00 PM ET In this holiday sequel to "Madagascar" and "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria (voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith) must deliver Santa's presents to save Christmas when St. Nick gets amnesia following a crash landing on their island. And yes, those resourceful penguins also are on board. What a shame they have a long-standing North vs. South Pole rivalry with Santa's reindeer... .
The Whale That Ate Jaws NGC 08:00 PM ET Biologist Peter Pyle captures dramatic footage from a startling predator-and-prey incident off the coast of San Francisco, where stunned whale watchers gaped as a killer whale broke the surface with a great white shark in its mouth. The whale and a finny friend ate the shark's liver, then departed, leaving the rest of the carcass to the birds. Criminal Minds CBS 09:00 PM ET Trying to hold a family together while reviewing a series of child abductions and murders, Rossi and Hotchner (Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson) and the rest of the team realize that one of the cases may not actually be the work of the serial killer they arrested. John Allen Nelson and Gretchen Egolf guest star in "A Shade of Gray." Paget Brewster and Shemar Moore also star.
Robin Hood BBCAM 09:00 PM ET After intercepting a message revealing that King Richard's return is imminent, Robin (Jonas Armstrong) focuses on taking the castle and holding it for the king against Prince John (Toby Stephens). Archer's (Clive Standen) traps catch Robin with Gisborne and Much (Richard Armitage, Sam Troughton) in the castle tunnel in "Something Worth Fighting For: Part 1." Jingle All the Way TBS 09:00 PM ET Comedy legend Arnold Schwarzenegger (do we really need to add a "wink wink" here?) stars as a workaholic businessman who embarks on a desperate Christmas mission to find his son the yuletide season's hottest action figure: Turboman. Cartoony, broad and loud, this 1996 comedy is aimed at audiences who get all misty-eyed at the sight of shoppers inflicting grievous bodily harm on one another over the last Insert This Year's Hot Toy Here on the shelf.
Arachnophobia TMC 09:00 PM ET Those who shiver at tales of creepy crawlers should experience lots of discomfort while watching this 1990 thriller-with-humor. Jeff Daniels stars as a doctor whose small town is overrun by lethal spiders, though more is suggested than actually shown by the film. John Goodman does a great supporting job as a "Rambo"-like exterminator, and Julian Sands and Harley Jane Kozak also appear. Bedazzled TCM 10:00 PM ET Vastly superior to the 2000 remake starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley, this tart 1967 British reworking of the Faust legend showcases the gifted comedy team of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore as, respectively, Satan and the hapless short-order cook who sells his soul for the love of a waitress (Eleanor Bron). The two stars co-wrote and even improvised parts of the film, perhaps including the devil's magic words: "Julie Andrews!" Raquel Welch co-stars.
Home Alone 4 ABCF 06:00 PM ET It's a cut above the dreadful "Home Alone 3," but this is definitely one franchise that should have stopped after one sequel. Young Kevin's (Mike Weinberg) parents have split up, and he's staying at his dad's new girlfriend's high-tech mansion. He learns that his old criminal nemesis, Marv, now married, is planning to break in and rob the place, but nobody believes him. That's OK; he hasn't forgotten his booby-trap-building skills from the other movies, even though he isn't Macaulay Culkin anymore. French Stewart ("3rd Rock From the Sun") is the new Marv. The Dog Who Saved Christmas ABCF 08:00 PM ET Zeus (voice of Mario Lopez), a crafty canine who previously had shown little aptitude as a guard dog, jumps to the rescue when two bumbling thieves target his master's home during the holidays while the family is away on vacation. Dean Cain, Elisa Donovan and Joe Torry also star in this yuletide-themed comedy.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ABC 08:00 PM ET Ty Pennington and his team travel to Lyme, N.H., to rebuild the moldy, rotting home of Jay and Elena Marshall and their large brood. The Marshalls had to put any notion of repairing their home on hold after their 9-year-old son, Cameron, was diagnosed with leukemia. Patrick Dempsey ("Grey's Anatomy") is the celebrity volunteer for this new episode. NFL Football NBC 08:15 PM ET November turns to December, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are locked in on another Super Bowl run. That became evident in Week 9, when a stultifying Pitt defense and Ben Roethlisberger and his many offensive weapons stuck it to Denver in the second half to win, 28-10. Joe Flacco and the Ravens, the Steelers' opponents tonight in Baltimore, will need to be on their game, but the lack of a deep threat has proved to be their undoing in the past.
Desperate Housewives ABC 09:00 PM ET Angie (Drea de Matteo) is no shrinking violet, but after another attack in the neighborhood, she thinks it may be time for her family to leave Wisteria Lane. Bree's (Marcia Cross) affair with Karl becomes increasingly difficult to hide from Susan (Teri Hatcher). Lynette's (Felicity Huffman) pregnancy causes a rift with Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) in the new episode "Would I Think of Suicide?" Explorer NGC 09:00 PM ET In the new episode "Nazi Mystery: Twins From Brazil," a town filled with blond-haired, blue-eyed twins deep in the Brazilian outback may be the result of efforts made by infamous Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele, who a historian says may have continued his obsessive quest to engineer an Aryan master race for Hitler after fleeing Germany for South America.
The Shop Around the Corner TCM 09:45 PM ET Alfred and Klara (James Stewart, Margaret Sullavan) are rival store employees who constantly argue. Little do they know that they have been corresponding with each other through the mail. Alfred has fallen in love with the woman to whom he writes, clueless that it is Klara. This 1940 romantic comedy was remade in 1949 as "In the Good Old Summertime" and in 1998 as "You've Got Mail" and also inspired the Broadway musical "She Loves Me." 10,000 B.C. MAX 10:00 PM ET Just as the title indicates, prehistoric times come to life again -- even if the human story isn't all that compelling and the "science" is hilariously scrambled -- in director Roland Emmerich's 2008 action drama about an ancient hero (Steven Strait) who tries to protect his true love (Camilla Belle) from slavers and a host of CGI beasties.
Brothers & Sisters ABC 10:01 PM ET As their wedding date draws closer, Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) has a secret that could make or break her relationship with Justin (Dave Annable). Holly's (Patricia Wettig) financial situation becomes even more dire. Struggling to get over her own heartbreak over Luc, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) becomes jealous of Nora's (Sally Field) new romance in the new episode "Pregnant Pause," which series regular Matthew Rhys directed. Rush Hour 3 HBOE 06:15 PM ET Sorry, Jackie. The pairing of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker worked -- sort of -- in the original "Rush Hour," but the formula started to fizzle in the first sequel, and this one fails to reignite the spark. Blame the passage of time; Chan is still far more fit than the average guy his age, but his prowess isn't what it was in 1998. And Tucker's shtick is also showing its age. Stick with the original.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation AMC 08:00 PM ET Killer squirrels! Written by "Home Alone" filmmaker John Hughes, the third installment in the movie comedy series was a major hit of the 1989 holiday season. Chevy Chase returns as Griswold family patriarch Clark, who tries to ensure a traditional yuletide for his clan -- despite the considerable odds against it. Co-stars Beverly D'Angelo and Randy Quaid also are back. Juliette Lewis plays one of the younger Griswolds. How I Met Your Mother CBS 08:00 PM ET Ladies, this actually is the type of stuff that goes through guys' heads. We're not sure whom to blame. Ted (Josh Radnor) tries to prove he's not pathetic for being left at the altar, and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) tries to impress Robin (Cobie Smulders), who thinks fighting is sexy, by picking a fight with a bunch of guys sitting in their favorite booth. Will Sasso ("MADtv") guest stars.
Heroes NBC 08:00 PM ET Unexpected visitors greet H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Samuel's (Robert Knepper) plan starts to come to fruition. Struggling to accept the truth, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) takes extreme measures to get what he wants. Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) journey leads her to an unexpected destination. Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto and Cristine Rose also star in the new episode "The Fifth Stage." How the Grinch Stole Christmas ABC 08:00 PM ET Since its first airing on CBS in 1966, this adaptation of the Dr. Seuss children's book has evolved into an annual holiday viewing tradition. Legendary animator Chuck Jones directed the story of the green-skinned grouch who sets out to spoil Christmas for the citizens of Whoville. Boris Karloff provides narration, with additional voices by Thurl Ravenscroft and June Foray.
Accidentally on Purpose CBS 08:30 PM ET What is it they say about trust in a relationship? In "Memento," Billie (Jenna Elfman) learns not to snoop after rifling through Zack's (Jon Foster) belongings -- all in an effort to get to know him better. When she comes across a note addressed to her that he never finished, she becomes convinced he's trying to hide something. Ashley Jensen, Lennon Parham and Grant Show also star. Trauma NBC 09:00 PM ET As a bad batch of heroin hits San Francisco, Glenn (Taylor Kinney) begins to question Nancy's (Anastasia Griffith) judgment during an encounter with a "frequent flier." Marisa (Aimee Garcia) goes on a wild-goose chase following a bizarre theft. Boone (Derek Luke) takes a new step as he contemplates his future. A new romance takes off in the new episode "Blue Balloon," which also stars Cliff Curtis and Kevin Rankin.
Mad Money STARZ 09:00 PM ET More than a few moviegoers were mad about wasting their money on this brainless fluff about three co-workers (Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Katie Holmes) at the Federal Reserve, who conspire to appropriate cash intended to be destroyed for their own purposes. Never mind the old cash; they should have burned the screenplay instead. Ted Danson co-stars. Note for trivia buffs: Director Callie Khouri won an Oscar for writing "Thelma & Louise." Two and a Half Men CBS 09:00 PM ET Hmmmm, so maybe he never thought ahead to that vow about taking her "in sickness and in health"? What a shocker, but Charlie (Charlie Sheen) fights the overwhelming urge to flee when fiancee Chelsea (Jennifer Taylor) gets sick -- and not in a glamorous "Love Story" kind of way -- and he is forced to take care of her. Martin Mull guest stars in "My Son's Enormous Head."
Million Dollar Listing BRAVO 10:00 PM ET Josh agrees to a co-listing but then worries that the other agent may be putting the squeeze on his commission. Chad worries that Madison is moving in on his territory and is trying to make time for girlfriend Victoria just as a new client appears. Madison puts a dream home on the market and "strips down" for a good cause, then worries if he may have bared too much in the new episode "In Real Estate Everything's Personal." Chef Academy BRAVO 11:00 PM ET Here's a tip for you aspiring chefs contemplating going on a competitive reality show like this: If a world-famous chef like Jean Christophe Novelli is trying to teach the class how to make a risotto accompanied by his grandmother's -- his grandmother's! -- tomato sauce, you don't want to disrupt the lesson by calling in a tailor to alter your chef's coat, SUZANNE! Because the winners who replicate that dish get invited to a Malibu red carpet party.
Happy Feet DISN 08:00 PM ET Gene Kelly may have sung "Gotta dance!" but the young emperor penguin at the heart of this 2006 tale really has to dance. Voice talent includes Carlos Alazraqui, Jeff Garcia, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving, Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. Michael Weatherly, David McCallum and Pauley Perrette also star in "South by Southwest."
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause ABCF 08:00 PM ET Tim Allen reprises his role as Scott Calvin, aka Santa, while juggling a full house of family and the mischievous Jack Frost (Martin Short). Jack has a serious case of Santa envy and tries to take over the big guy's holiday. Along for the adventure is Scott's extended family. Judge Reinhold, Liliana Mumy and Spencer Breslin also star. 90210 CW 08:00 PM ET Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) makes a life-changing decision about her pill popping after a hospital visit with Navid (Michael Steger), who has no memory of who pushed him down the stairs. Silver and Teddy (Jessica Stroup, guest star Trevor Donovan) bond over the loss of their mothers. Liam, Dixon and Ivy (Matt Lanter, Tristan Wilds, guest star Gillian Zinser) plan to confront Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) at the horse races in "And Away They Go!"
Disney Prep & Landing ABC 08:30 PM ET Santa's elves suffer job burnout, too. In this charming new animated special, Dave Foley gives voice to Wayne, a member of the elite elf team that prepares for and oversees Santa's arrival at children's houses. He was hoping for a promotion; instead, he has to stay where he is and train an annoyingly overzealous new assistant (voice of Derek Richardson). Of course, no Christmas special would be complete without a crisis and a lesson to be learned. College Basketball ESPN 09:00 PM ET An early-season clash of potential Final Four teams takes place tonight in Chapel Hill, where No. 6 North Carolina hosts No. 2 Michigan State. Spartan forward Delvon Roe is healthy once again after microfracture knee surgery last year, meaning more than a few UNC shots could be sent skyward. The Tar Heels also have some inside intimidation of their own in 6-foot-10-inch freshmen John Henson and twins David and Travis Wear.
Melrose Place CW 09:00 PM ET Amanda (Heather Locklear) moves into the penthouse formerly occupied by Sydney (Laura Leighton) -- because, yeah, that's not too creepy -- and takes a very special interest in David (Shaun Sipos), who's growing closer to Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen). The Best Thing I Ever Ate FOOD 09:00 PM ET In this new episode, Food Network stars Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Tyler Florence, Alton Brown, Duff Goldman, Aaron Sanchez and Claire Robinson share stories behind the best dishes they've ever eaten during the holidays, including smoky southern barbecue, raisin-studded pannetone and Peking duck.
NCIS: Los Angeles CBS 09:00 PM ET Callen and Hanna (Chris O'Donnell, LL Cool J) and the rest of the team spring into action after an unmanned aerial vehicle loaded with a "hellfire missile" apparently falls into enemy hands after killing a Marine, posing a threat to national security. Linda Hunt, Peter Cambor and Daniela Ruah also star in "Predator"; Rod Rowland, Brian Gross and Matt Battaglia guest star. What Happens in Vegas MAX 10:00 PM ET It actually doesn't stay in Vegas in this poker-chip-thin comedy, as Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher play New Yorkers who go to the gambling haven to escape respective disappointments. Shortly after meeting, they get married while on a drunken spree, then decide to part company -- until a shared payoff at a slot machine leaves them battling over the $3 million. A judge (Dennis Miller) orders them to stay together, but there's not a court in the land that compels you to do the same. Rob Corddry and Queen Latifah also appear.
An American Carol SHO 07:00 PM ET If your politics lean to the left, be sure your sense of humor is fully engaged before watching this goofy 2008 takeoff on "A Christmas Carol." Kevin Farley, brother of Chris, plays filmmaker Michael Malone -- guess whom he's based on -- who is visited by the ghosts of patriots past when he starts a crusade to ban Independence Day. Yes, you read that right. Kelsey Grammer also stars, and right-wing pundit Bill O'Reilly appears as himself. Christmas in Rockefeller Center NBC 08:00 PM ET Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock") and Zachary Levi ("Chuck") co-host this special, as musical artists and personalities from NBC programs gather together at the real-life "30 Rock" to participate in the 77th annual tree-lighting extravaganza. Ol' Rudy is 45 this year and as cute as ever, ready to delight the children and grandbabies of the viewers who met him back in '64. If you haven't seen this Christmas chestnut in a few years, it's always worth another look. Great Performances at the Met PBS 09:00 PM ET Mozart would love it. The first installment in a series that brings the Metropolitan Opera's famed Saturday afternoon broadcasts to the screen, this production of "The Magic Flute" is directed by Julie Taymor, who did "The Lion King" on Broadway. That means a feast for both eyes and ears. Sung in English, the opera stars Matthew Polenzani and Ying Huang as the young lovers, with Erika Miklosa as the seductive and dangerous Queen of the Night.
Throwdown With Bobby Flay FOOD 09:00 PM ET The Pellegrino family of Rao's restaurant in New York challenges Bobby to a holiday competition built around the Feast of Seven Fishes, which requires both teams to come up with three succulent fish dishes in front of a studio audience in the new episode "Feast of Seven Fishes." South Park COM 10:00 PM ET Never-been-kissed Butters buys a smooch from a girl and realizes he's now a "man" and needs to start being responsible. Yes, he's in the fourth grade; just go with it. He offers to go into business with the girl for a piece of her earnings, and soon he's got a thriving business brokering kisses. And you know what they call guys who sell the favors of females. Watching him get into that role -- even going to a pimp convention -- is comedy gold. Top Chef: Las Vegas BRAVO 10:00 PM ET They came. They saw. They basted. And now the nitty gets gritty as the final four chefs head to Napa Valley to compete in a challenge that will determine which three of them will go on to the final round to determine who gets a pile of cash and bragging rights as Top Chef. We're picking Kevin and the Voltaggio brothers for the final three, but don't bet the farm.
The Nanny Diaries TMC 11:35 PM ET This 2007 dramedy wasn't well-received by critics, but if you've ever had a demanding yet useless boss, this is a film you'll understand. Scarlett Johansson stars as college grad Annie, whose new job as a nanny to an upper-class family has her grinding her teeth. She just wants to make a living and have a well-adjusted charge -- but the family members make that virtually impossible. Donna Murphy, Laura Linney, Alicia Keys and Nicholas Reese Art co-star. Christmas With the Kranks FXEAST 06:00 PM ET It seems that every year, some lame film about Christmas decorating crops up like a bad foot fungus. Occasionally, a decent one such as "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" with its attack squirrel will appear. But this is not such an occasion. This is pain. Mental pain that grabs you like the Jaws of Life and refuses to let go, sucking you into a vortex of red and green doom.
Home for the Holidays MNT 08:00 PM ET Don't let the warm and fuzzy title fool you. Director Jodie Foster's 1995 black comedy is not a Norman Rockwell painting come to life. A single mom (Holly Hunter) faces Thanksgiving with trepidation when she visits her eccentric parents. She just lost her job, and her teen-age daughter plans to spend the weekend losing her virginity. Deck the Halls FXEAST 08:00 PM ET An optometrist's (Matthew Broderick) hopes for a traditional Christmas are dashed by a randy new neighbor (Danny DeVito) in this only mildly funny tale. The two men become all-out enemies over the newcomer's garish holiday display. Broadway veteran Kristin Chenoweth lends her usual sparkle as DeVito's wife, and Kristin Davis ("Sex and the City") plays Broderick's spouse. In other words, a good cast wasted on a done-to-death "anything you can do, I can do better" plot.
A Christmas Carol TCM 08:00 PM ET Alastair Sim's 1952 version has its devotees, but many consider this 1938 version their favorite screen adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. Count June Lockhart among them. She made her film debut at age 12 as one of the children of Bob and Emily Cratchit, played by her real-life parents, Gene and Kathleen Lockhart. Reginald Owen stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, the Christmas-hating curmudgeon who finally gets the spirit. NBA Basketball TNT 08:00 PM ET It's been an adjustment process in the early going for the San Antonio Spurs, who take on the Boston Celtics tonight down Alamo way. Off to a .500 start through six games, these Spurs had yet to jell at this writing, but encouraging performances by Manu Ginobili and new acquisition Richard Jefferson have given indications of better days to come. As for Rajon Rondo and the Celts, coming together hasn't been a problem, as they won seven of their first eight games.
